This position is responsible for the overall office and nursing care provided to patients of the Nestor Community Health Center.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for overall supervision and training of LVN and Medical Assistants to assure appropriate nursing care is provided to all patients.

Performs and delegates triage to maximize patient access while assuring smooth and efficient patient flow.

Participates in quality assurance activities of the Clinic.

Instructs and educates patients on health care issues as requested by Providers.

Prepares and administers medications as ordered

Responsible for ordering and maintaining an adequate inventory of medical and pharmaceutical supplies.

Organizes supplies and pharmaceuticals to assure compliance with State regulations and Provider need.

Provides telephone and written follow-up to all Clinic patients with abnormal test results, in accordance with clinical protocols, to assure continuity of care.

Directs staff performing laboratory testing to assure efficient, safe and reliable testing procedures are followed

Assist in preparing Health Center for audits and inspections.

Maintains a referral network of health care providers/agencies that can be used for Imperial Beach Health Center patients whose health care needs cannot be met by the Clinic

III. QUALIFICATIONS

1. Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License.

2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

3. Knowledge of community nursing preferred.

4. Five years experience in an outpatient medical facility.

5. Supervisory experience and/or training preferred.

6. Possess and maintain a CPR card specific to their job duties.
