Head of Marketing

Location: Mountain View, CA — Downtown HQ

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Model: On-site, 5 days/week

Department: Go-to-Market

The Mission

Granica is building a new generation of data and AI infrastructure for enterprises operating at massive scale.

Our first product, Crunch, continuously improves the physical organization and efficiency of enterprise data, reducing infrastructure costs while making data systems faster and easier to operate. Granica already manages more than 100PB of customer data across companies including Pinterest, Lyft, Snap, and others, with a path toward exabyte scale.

Our research organization, led by our Chief Research Scientist, Stanford Prof. Andrea Montanari, is developing Large Table Models — foundation models designed to learn directly from structured enterprise data and perform tasks such as prediction, anomaly detection, and imputation without requiring a separate model for every use case.

We are now looking for our first marketing leader to define how Granica tells that story, creates a category around it, and turns technical differentiation into enterprise adoption.

The Role

This is not a role for someone inheriting an established marketing organization, brand, or playbook.

You will build the marketing function from the ground up and work directly with our CEO, product leaders, research team, and an experienced enterprise sales organization.

The challenge is unusually technical: Granica sits at the intersection of data infrastructure, AI research, distributed systems, and enterprise economics. The person in this role must be able to understand those systems deeply enough to turn them into clear positioning, compelling customer narratives, and a repeatable go-to-market motion.

You will own the path from:

technical insight → category narrative → customer proof → pipeline and revenue

What You’ll Do

Define Granica’s company and product positioning across data infrastructure, AI systems, and structured-data intelligence.

Build the marketing function from zero, including priorities, operating cadence, channels, measurement, and eventually the team.

Create a category-level narrative around Granica’s technical work — not simply feature marketing.

Translate complex research and systems concepts into clear enterprise value for CIOs, CDOs, data-platform leaders, engineering executives, and AI teams.

Partner closely with Sales to build messaging, sales collateral, competitive positioning, case studies, ROI narratives, and executive-level materials.

Develop the go-to-market strategy for new products and research emerging from Granica, including Large Table Models.

Turn customer outcomes into proof: cost reduction, infrastructure efficiency, performance improvements, and new AI capabilities.

Own customer marketing and help Granica build a credible public voice around the problems our customers are solving.

Develop thought leadership alongside Rahul, Andrea, product leaders, and technical teams.

Build the content, launch, event, analyst, PR, and community strategy appropriate for an early-stage technical company.

Establish measurement across marketing activity, pipeline contribution, customer engagement, and revenue impact.

Work directly with Product, Research, Engineering, and Sales to ensure the market narrative stays grounded in what the technology actually does.

What You’ll Bring

Significant experience in enterprise B2B technology marketing, ideally across data infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, databases, cloud infrastructure, developer tools, or similarly technical products.

Strong product-marketing fundamentals: positioning, messaging, segmentation, competitive strategy, launches, sales enablement, and customer storytelling.

Ability to understand technically complex systems and communicate them without oversimplifying the underlying technology.

Experience marketing to sophisticated technical and executive buyers.

Evidence of connecting marketing work to measurable commercial outcomes — pipeline, adoption, expansion, bookings, or revenue.

Strong judgment around when to lead with product capability, technical differentiation, customer economics, or broader category vision.

Comfort operating without an established playbook, large team, or extensive agency support.

Ability to move between strategy and execution: one day refining company positioning with the CEO, the next building a customer deck or rewriting a product page.

Strong cross-functional instincts and the ability to earn credibility with engineers, researchers, product leaders, and enterprise sellers.

A builder mentality and a high tolerance for ambiguity.

Bonus

  • Experience building or leading marketing at an early-stage infrastructure or AI company.
  • Direct experience with Snowflake, Databricks, lakehouse architectures, cloud data platforms, ML infrastructure, or enterprise AI.
  • Experience creating a new technical category or repositioning a company into one.
  • Strong familiarity with technical enterprise buyers including CIOs, CDOs, VP Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and AI Infrastructure leaders.
  • Experience building a demand-generation motion alongside a high-performing enterprise sales team.
  • Technical background in computer science, engineering, data, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Why This Role Matters
  • Granica has spent years building technology before building a marketing organization.
  • That creates an unusual opportunity.

The products are real. The enterprise customers are real. The technical differentiation is deep. But much of the market still does not know Granica exists — and some of the categories we are pursuing do not yet have established language.

The person joining us will not simply market an existing story.

You will help define the story, the category, and the marketing function itself.

You will work directly with the CEO, our research organization, product leaders, and an experienced enterprise sales team while the company is still small enough for one person to materially change its trajectory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and performance bonus for top performers
  • 401(k) with company match, comprehensive health coverage, and unlimited PTO
  • Daily catered meals in our Mountain View office
  • Support for research, publication, and conference participation

At Granica, you'll help build the next generation of enterprise AI—from exabyte-scale data infrastructure, Large Tabular Models (LTMs), and stateful AI agents. Together, we're creating the infrastructure that enables enterprises to own their data, own the intelligence built on it, and scale both efficiently.
