Efficient Energy UK seeks a fractional sales performance advisor for a 3–6 month, milestone-driven engagement to coach a ~10-person B2B energy efficiency sales team, improve ACV, and embed sustainable sales procedures. This is a structured, outcome-focused fractional role with clear success metrics and change management at its core.

01

Fractional Head of Sales — the balanced verdict

Why this role stands out
  • Explicitly fractional with defined duration (3–6 months) and milestone-based structure
  • Clear scopediagnosis, playbook design, coaching, and adoption—not just advisory
  • Sector specificity (energy/utility) with multi-offer complexity (product, install, service, broker channels) attracts experienced fractional practitioners
  • Measurable success criteria (ACV improvement, process adoption, team alignment) enable strong milestone definitions
Worth checking before you apply
  • No day rate or budget stated; candidate must negotiate based on typical 3-day fractional rates for sales coaching at this seniority
  • Team size (~10 people) is relatively small; scope clarity on time commitment per week is not explicit, though 3–4 days inferred from fractional language
  • Reporting line and stakeholder sign-off rhythm (e.g., weekly touchpoints with leadership) should be confirmed to ensure alignment on momentum
Fractional-fit score
92/100

Sales Performance Advisor Fractional, Milestone-Based UK Energy Efficiency Business Bristol (Hybrid)

Role Summary Efficient Energy UK Ltd is seeking a fractional Sales Performance Advisor to optimise UK sales efforts for our B2B energy efficiency offering (electronic equipment + software) sold via product sale, turnkey install, or service basis, with some sales via energy brokers. You will coach an experienced sales team (~10 people, typically 5–10 years’ experience), lead culture and process change, and implement structured sales procedures that increase sales throughput and, in particular, ACV. This is an outcome-driven, milestone-based engagement where milestones will be co-defined with the successful candidate.

Contract Structure

  • Fractional engagement over 3–6 months
  • Expected 3–4 milestones

Key Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)

  • A clear, adopted sales operating rhythm and set of procedures that improve pipeline movement, qualification, deal execution, and teaming
  • Measurable improvement in ACV within the engagement period
  • Strong adoption across the sales team with minimal disruption, and clear alignment with leadership expectations
  • Decision-ready communication that brings both leadership and the sales team along through change

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose current sales performance drivers and blockers across pipeline stages, qualification, roles, and ways of working
  • Design structured sales procedures and playbooks to improve throughput (e.g., speed through pipeline, lead qualification standards, deal strategy, role clarity, teaming)
  • Coach individual contributors and managers to improve execution, consistency, and performance in a way that strengthens culture
  • Improve how opportunities are qualified and progressed, including guidance on partnerships and broker-influenced deals where relevant
  • Establish and embed a practical cadence of operating routines (e.g., pipeline reviews, deal clinics, coaching sessions) that the team can sustain
  • Produce clear, decision-ready updates for leadership and align stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and next actions
  • Define milestone deliverables and acceptance criteria jointly, then execute against them with measurable results

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven B2B sales experience, ideally in the utility/energy sector or closely related markets
  • Demonstrated sales coaching capability with experienced salespeople (not just early-career enablement)
  • Track record designing and rolling out sales processes that drive behaviour change and performance improvement
  • Strong change management skills, including the ability to shift culture and ways of working without creating disengagement
  • Excellent communication skills with the credibility to influence both senior leadership/board-level stakeholders and frontline sales teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience improving ACV through better qualification, deal strategy, packaging/pricing discipline, or sales motion optimisation
  • Experience working with multi-offer models (product sale, turnkey install, service/recurring) and channel dynamics (e.g., brokers/partners)
  • Familiarity with sales operations metrics and practical performance management approaches that support coaching rather than bureaucracy

How You’ll Be Evaluated

  • Evidence of prior outcomes (case examples) where coaching and process rollout improved sales performance and/or ACV
  • Clarity and practicality of your proposed approach to diagnosing issues and implementing change in a 3–6 month window
  • Ability to build trust quickly and communicate in a structured, decision-ready way
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable results via milestone-based delivery

What a Great Fit Looks Like

  • You build credibility fast, listen well, and translate observations into a clear plan the team can execute
  • You are hands-on in coaching and adoption, not just advisory, and you leave behind sustainable routines and tools
  • You maintain momentum through culture and process change while keeping the team engaged and aligned

Equal Opportunity We are an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates; hiring decisions are made without regard to background, identity, or other personal characteristics.

How to Apply Please submit your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short note including: relevant B2B utility/energy experience, examples of sales coaching impact, and 1–2 brief case examples of sales process design/rollout that improved ACV or sales throughput. Get in touch on info@projectbrains.io
