About dot.cards

dot.cards is building the platform for what happens after people connect in the real world. Our platform spans digital profiles, consumer subscriptions, mobile apps, and dot.teams, our software for businesses managing their teams’ networking and relationships.

We’re expanding into connected devices and AI-powered experiences, creating new ways for people to capture the context of a conversation and turn an introduction into a lasting relationship.

The role

We’re looking for a technically strong, product-minded Head of Engineering to lead our engineering organization and own the quality, architecture, and delivery of our software.

Reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, you’ll lead engineering across our mobile app, consumer and mobile web platform, enterprise web software, and ecommerce experiences. You’ll partner closely with Product and Design to translate ideas into dependable products, make thoughtful technical tradeoffs, and build a team that takes ownership of its work.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You should be comfortable reviewing architecture and critical code, helping diagnose difficult production issues, and coaching engineers through complex decisions. You’ll also own the management practices that help the team deliver consistently: clear responsibilities, direct feedback, realistic plans, and follow-through.

What you’ll own

Engineering leadership and team development. Hire exceptional engineers, develop existing talent, establish clear ownership, and set high standards for performance, collaboration, and technical judgment.

Technical strategy and architecture. Guide the evolution of backend services, APIs, data models, infrastructure, and shared systems. Make practical decisions about what to improve, what to rebuild, and where to invest as the platform grows.

Production reliability and release quality. Own testing, monitoring, deployment safeguards, incident response, and prevention of recurring issues. Build release practices that catch regressions early and make recovery dependable.

Execution across the product portfolio. Lead delivery across mobile, consumer and mobile web, dot.teams, and ecommerce. Turn priorities into clear plans, manage dependencies, surface risks early, and follow through on commitments.

Partnership with Product and the business. Work with Product, Design, Growth, and other stakeholders to define scope, explain tradeoffs, and deliver improvements that matter to customers and the business. Partner with Product on priorities; own engineering feasibility, technical approach, delivery, and production health.

Connected-device and AI experiences. Lead the software architecture and integrations that connect physical products, mobile experiences, and intelligent features into a cohesive customer experience.

Security, privacy, and operational discipline. Build appropriate safeguards for customer data, access, and business-critical workflows while managing infrastructure performance and cost.

What you’ll bring

A track record of leading engineering teams responsible for production software, with clear examples of improving product quality, delivery, and team performance.

Deep software engineering experience, particularly in backend systems and platform architecture, with the technical credibility to challenge decisions and help solve difficult problems.

Experience delivering web and mobile products and understanding how client applications, backend services, data, and infrastructure work together.

Strong hiring and people-management skills, including developing engineers, giving direct feedback, and building accountability across a distributed team.

Sound judgment about speed, complexity, and technical debt. You know how to improve an existing platform while continuing to ship.

Strong product instincts and the ability to connect engineering decisions to customer experience, adoption, retention, and revenue.

Clear communication and a proactive approach to ownership. You identify problems, bring recommendations, and drive resolution.

Experience with consumer subscriptions, B2B SaaS, ecommerce, connected devices, or AI-powered products is especially relevant.

Why join dot.cards

You’ll help shape the engineering organization behind products already used at meaningful scale, with direct access to the founder and substantial influence over what we build and how we build it.

The opportunity combines an established customer base with new product development across software, physical devices, and AI. Your decisions will influence both the experience customers have today and the foundation for what comes next.

Base salary: $220,000–$280,000 USD, plus performance bonus.

Meaningful equity available for the right candidate.
