Fractional CFO, Apotech
FRACTIONAL CFO JOB · PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURING SECTOR · LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM
Apotech, a 51–200-person Life Science consultancy, is hiring a fractional CFO to provide strategic financial leadership while a Finance Manager handles day-to-day operations. The role spans multi-entity reporting (UK/France), international expansion planning (US), tax and audit oversight, and team coaching. No day rate or hours are stated.
The balanced verdict
- Explicitly fractional model—sits perfectly on a board director or portfolio basis
- Clear scope — strategic input on commercial decisions, board reporting, pricing, and team development; not drowning in operational work
- Sophisticated financial remit — multi-currency consolidation, cross-border expansion, regulated sector, M&A support
- Professional services sector expertise valued; Xero + Excel capability baseline, not exotic tech risk
- Founders are hiring partners, implying direct access and real influence
- No day rate or hours posted; fractional quantum unclear—could be 1–3 days/week or ad-hoc retainer; clarify in first conversation
- French GAAP and US GAAP experience listed as 'required'—if you lack French or US tax depth, flag upfront
- Multi-entity consolidation and expansion planning are high-touch; scope could creep if boundaries aren't set early
