Norven, a pre-revenue AI governance startup, seeks a fractional Chief Revenue Officer as an advisory board member. You'd guide pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategy across their first enterprise deals in fintech, telecoms, healthcare and government, meeting bi-weekly with founders. This is genuine advisory (no team, no quota, no exclusivity required) backed by a fixed advisor fee plus equity, explicitly welcoming portfolio executives.

01

Advisory CRO — the balanced verdict

Why this role stands out

  • Genuinely fractional — 2-week cadence, advisory seat, no operating role or team to manage
  • Explicitly welcomes portfolio executives, fractional CROs, and serving executives taking one outside seat—no exclusivity
  • High-calibre problem — pricing and commercial architecture decisions in early-stage B2B software are genuinely hard to reverse
  • International scope (UK, EMEA, Gulf, US) with early design-partner traction in regulated sectors

Worth checking before you apply

  • Pre-revenue stage — founder judgement is final; advisory input has influence but no control
  • Three-month initial term; path to board observer or deeper role is conditional ('if it works for both sides')
  • Advisor fee amount is 'agreed before work starts'—not stated here; equity is 'standard vesting'—confirm both upfront

Chief Revenue Officer (Advisory, Fractional) — Enterprise Software Pricing & Go-to-Market

Norven

Remote (UK), London preferred

Fractional, portfolio and currently serving executives welcome

THE COMPANY

Enterprises, governments and AI labs are handing AI agents the authority to act inside systems that matter: payments, patient records, networks, public services, the models themselves. Someone has to decide what those agents may do, and be accountable for the decision.

Norven exists to make that decision defensible. For a defined AI workflow, we establish what the system is configured to do, bring qualified specialist judgement to what it should be allowed to do, and produce a record the accountable owner can act on. The customer decides whether to ship, restrict or change the deployment. We provide the evidence and the judgement behind it.

We are a UK company, founder-led and pre-revenue, with design-partner conversations under way across financial services, telecoms, healthcare, government and AI-native companies in the UK, the Gulf and the US. Our first revenue will come from London, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. The playbook has to work there before it works in San Francisco. We are building a business that compounds: each engagement makes the next one faster, each change a customer makes creates a reason to return, and in time Norven becomes part of how institutions release and change their AI systems.

THE PROBLEM WE NEED SOLVED

Norven's commercial architecture will be set in its first paid engagements. How platform, specialist judgement and services are separated. What triggers the second purchase. Whether reuse becomes margin or discount. When consumption or subscription pricing becomes credible and what it should meter. These decisions are hard to reverse, and most companies get them wrong by defaulting to services economics.

You have made these decisions before, as the revenue leader of an enterprise software company that went from bespoke early deals to a platform customers depend on. We need you to help the founders make them again, here.

THE SEAT

  • One advisory seat, reporting to the founders.
  • Working sessions with both founders every two weeks.
  • Review of pricing, packaging and the first design-partner proposals.
  • Selective involvement in key buyer conversations in the UK, EMEA and the Gulf.

No quota, no team, no operating role. The founders retain every decision.

Begins with a three-month engagement. Advisor fee agreed before work starts. Advisor equity on standard vesting for sustained contribution. Path to a board observer seat or a deeper role if it works for both sides.

Fractional CROs and CCOs, portfolio executives, and currently serving executives who take one outside advisory seat are welcome. We are not asking for exclusivity.

This is not an interim assignment, a transformation programme or a day-rate consultancy, and it is not a sales role. We are buying judgement you formed in a seat you held, not capacity.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, President or equivalent at an enterprise software company: cloud or data infrastructure, cybersecurity, identity, developer platform or similar. We mean the kind of company a Snowflake, Darktrace, Palantir, Elastic, Snyk or Mimecast is, at any stage of its growth. We do not mean telecoms, energy, construction or physical infrastructure.

You held that seat through the company's transition from early, partly bespoke deals to recurring, embedded revenue.

Personal ownership of pricing and packaging decisions in that transition: the model, the metric, the tiers, the deal desk rules. Not a pricing function you sponsored; decisions you made.

Experience pricing an offer that combined software with expert or forward-deployed services, and protecting gross margin as it scaled.

Experience selling into high-stakes buyers: regulated enterprise, public sector or AI labs.

International operating experience: you have built or run revenue across more than one region (UK and EMEA plus the US, the Middle East or APAC), and you know how pricing, procurement and partner models change across borders.

WHAT WE VALUE

Operators who have been inside the institutions they sold to, and who know how a forward-deployed model turns into platform revenue.

Experience with Gulf buyers: sovereign, regulated or government.

Judgement over logos. We care what you personally built and priced.

Directness. You will tell the founders when they are wrong.

Intellectual honesty about stage. You know what pre-revenue means and are interested anyway.

APPLY

Apply on LinkedIn. No cover letter. In the first conversation we will ask for one business whose commercial model you helped build and one pricing decision you personally owned. Anonymised examples are fine.

For a confidential conversation: enquiries@norven.ai

Norven does not name its founders in public postings. You will meet them in the first conversation.
