Business Development Representative (Entry Level)

CNWR IT Consultants. Toledo, OH. Full time, in office. $20/hour plus commission.

Looking for your first real sales job?

If you’ve waited tables, worked a register, taken calls in a call center, or played a sport and hated losing, we’d like to talk to you. No sales experience required. We mean that literally. We’d rather teach you our way than un-teach somebody else’s, and we’ve built a real training program to do it.

This job is the front door to our sales team. You learn a skill that pays off in every sales job out there: starting a good conversation with someone who wasn’t expecting your call. We’ll pay you to get good at it, and the plan is for you to outgrow this role.

The honest part

This is a phone job. Once you’re up to speed, you’ll make 50 to 70 calls a day. Plenty of them will be voicemails or quick “no thanks” answers, and that’s normal. Nobody hits on every call, and we don’t expect you to. We’d rather you hear that from us now than be surprised by it in week three. Once you get used to it, most people find the wins hit harder than the misses.

What your day looks like

We sell IT and cybersecurity to manufacturers and small businesses around Northwest Ohio. Your job is to find the ones who need us and get them talking.

Work a list of local companies we’ve already researched, so you never start from a blank page.

Get people on the phone, ask good questions, and figure out whether they have a problem we can help with.

Book a 15-minute intro call for our sales lead. That’s the win. Everything else supports it.

Send follow-up emails under your own name. Real emails, not marketing blasts.

Keep good notes in our CRM, because we really do make decisions from that data.

You will not be writing proposals, building quotes, or closing deals. Not at first. Your job is to start conversations and get very good at it.

How we’ll set you up to succeed

Nobody here gets handed a phone list and a “good luck.” You’ll spend your first weeks learning our business and our process before you make any calls, because it’s hard to ask a good question about something you don’t understand yet. You’ll also listen in on real calls before you make your own.

For your first 60 days, you’ll make fewer calls, 30 to 40 a day, while you learn the industry and why a plant manager should care about any of this. You’ll do call reviews and role play with your manager every week at first, then as needed once you find your footing. That feedback is there to help you get better, not to grade you.

Your manager got into this job without a sales background too. She knows what actually helped her, and she built the training around it.

You’ll probably do well here if:

You like beating your own numbers from last week.

You can call a stranger without rehearsing for ten minutes first.

You can take coaching and use it. This matters more than natural talent does.

You’re organized enough to work a list and write down what happened.

You show up. Consistency wins this game.

The rest can be learned, and teaching it is our job, not yours.

What it pays

  • $20.00 an hour, which comes out to $41,600 a year
  • $40 every time a meeting you booked actually happens
  • $100 when one of those prospects becomes a customer
  • Benefits, PTO, and paid holidays

Once you’re hitting steady numbers, that should add about $400 to $700 a month on top of your base, and there’s no cap. We pay on meetings that happen, not just meetings that get booked, because we want you having real conversations instead of filling calendars.

Where this goes

Do this well for 12 to 18 months and the next step is your own accounts, your own territory, and your own deals, with real commission attached. Promotion here is earned, not automatic, and on day one we’ll show you exactly what earning it looks like. Honestly, we’d much rather promote you than run this ad again :)

How to apply

Apply here. Then call (419) 558-5367 and leave a 60-second voicemail with your name and why you think you’d be good at this.

Since it’s a phone job, we’d like to hear you on the phone before we meet you. There’s no trick and you don’t need a script. Just be yourself. We listen to every voicemail, and applications that include one go to the top of the pile. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
