WD-40 Company is recruiting a full-time Trade Marketing Manager (not executive level) responsible for UK/Ireland channel marketing strategy, budget management, team coaching and cross-functional delivery. This is a permanent hybrid role (2 office days/week) at a large established FMCG business, not a fractional or interim executive engagement.

Why this role stands out

  • Direct employer posting; WD-40 Company is credible, established brand
  • Clear hybrid flexibility (2 days/week office minimum)

  • People leadership scope (coaching Assistant Marketing Manager)

Worth checking before you apply

  • This is a marketing manager role, not a board-level executive or fractional C-suite position—outside Fractional Quest's typical remit
  • Permanent full-time expectation implied; no fractional, interim or portfolio language
  • Travel commitment (20% UK/Ireland, occasional Europe) incompatible with portfolio fractional work

Overview

At WD-40 Company, our brands are built on trust, purpose and connection. Our marketing teams play a critical role in bringing those brands to life across channels, customers and markets.

We are looking for a commercially minded Trade Marketing Manager to lead the development and delivery of our Trade channel marketing plans across the UK and Ireland. You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Digital and external partners to turn customer and market data into meaningful insight, uncover new opportunities and create activity that supports sales and EBITDA growth.

This is a high-profile role with exposure across different areas of marketing and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across markets, share best practice and shape how we grow our brands. You will join a positive, collaborative team that supports, guides and challenges one another to make the business better than it is today.

The role is hybrid, with two regular office days each week, currently Tuesday and Thursday, alongside attendance at key meetings. Travel will be less than 20%, primarily across the UK and Ireland, with occasional European travel.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver rolling Trade channel marketing plans that grow brand awareness, distribution, product trial and category profitability.

Turn customer, channel and market data into clear insights, recommendations and commercially focused actions.

Partner with the Trade Sales team to develop customer and channel plans, presentations, campaigns and effective sales tools.

Support the growth of WD-40 Specialist through product launches, sampling, secondary locations and customer campaigns.

Identify new opportunities within key channels, including the automotive market, and bring fresh thinking to established ways of working.

Measure campaign performance, complete post-activity analysis and share learnings and recommendations with the wider team.

Plan and manage the Trade Marketing budget, including forecasting, promotional investment and expenditure against plan.

Brief and manage agencies and other third-party partners, ensuring activity is delivered on time, within budget and in line with our values.

Lead trade shows, events, sponsorships, promotions and sampling opportunities.

Work across Sales, Marketing, Digital, Supply Chain and other teams to ensure initiatives are effectively planned and delivered.

Coach and support the development of the Assistant Marketing Manager, creating an environment where people can learn, contribute and perform at their best.

Live and promote WD-40 Company’s values in the way you lead, collaborate and make decisions.

Qualifications

Strong brand or product marketing experience, ideally within Trade, wholesale, B2B or a related consumer environment.

A commercial approach to marketing, with the ability to connect activity to customer needs and business outcomes.

Experience turning qualitative and quantitative data into meaningful insight and practical action.

Strong collaboration skills, particularly when working across Marketing, Sales and wider cross-functional teams.

Confidence leading meetings, presenting recommendations and influencing customers and senior stakeholders.

Experience planning and managing budgets, forecasts and marketing investment.

Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience briefing and managing agencies or third-party partners.

An open mindset and the confidence to positively challenge established thinking.

A people-first leadership style, with experience mentoring, coaching or developing others.

A degree, CIM qualification or equivalent marketing knowledge is preferred.

Digital or e-commerce experience would be beneficial, but technical product knowledge and familiarity with our Trade customers can be developed in the role.
