Freeths (established 1987, ~5,000 staff across 12 UK offices) seeks a senior corporate lawyer with 7+ PQE to join its fast-growing East Midlands team as Managing Associate or Legal Director. This is a full-time, on-site role combining deal execution (M&A, PE, fundraising), junior supervision, and business development—a traditional partner-track legal appointment with no fractional or interim flexibility signalled.

01

Full-time General Counsel — the balanced verdict

Why this role stands out

  • Established, reputable firm with strong M&A and PE credentials (recent LDC, Foresight Group mandates named)
  • Clear seniority — 7+ PQE threshold signals mid-to-senior tier with autonomy and mentoring responsibility
  • Multi-office network and cross-practice collaboration opportunity
  • Explicit encouragement of client development and business leadership

Worth checking before you apply

  • No salary range or day rate disclosed; unusual for a 5,000+ firm posting
  • Title ambiguity ('Managing Associate or Legal Director') suggests role level may be negotiable or unclear
  • Full-time, on-site only; no mention of flexibility, working-from-home or part-time scope
