Sompo is hiring a VP, Product Counsel for a 12-month fixed-term contract in their London office. This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), embedded legal role supporting underwriting and policy development within an insurance company, not a fractional or part-time engagement. The contract duration and technical insurance law specialism suit interim candidates seeking structured medium-term placement.

01

Temporary General Counsel — the balanced verdict

Why this role stands out

  • Explicit 12-month fixed-term duration reduces recruitment friction for interim candidates.
  • Clear scope — policy wording, endorsements, regulatory compliance (FCA/PRA/Lloyd's).
  • Hybrid working and established large employer (5,001–10,000 staff) with structured benefits.
  • Senior role (VP level) with leadership and stakeholder collaboration expectations.

Worth checking before you apply

  • Full-time 40-hour weekly commitment; not designed for part-time or portfolio working.
  • Specialist insurance product counsel knowledge required; narrow labour pool.
  • No day rate or salary stated; contact recruiter for compensation.
