CONTRACT CISO JOB · BANKING SECTOR · LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM

TSB (Santander) is hiring a Security Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Edinburgh or London. The role focuses on m365/Entra security controls, tooling management, and technical mentorship of a small security team—hands-on SME work rather than executive fractional leadership. No day rate or hourly pay is disclosed.
Contract CISO — the balanced verdict
Why this role stands out
- Large, credible employer (Santander/TSB) with strong benefits package including 13% pension, private healthcare, and 30 days holiday
- Clear technical scope — m365, Entra, MDCA, identity governance, Defender suite—deep specialisation valued
- Defined team leadership component (coaching and technical guidance to security staff)
- Fixed 12-month term provides clarity and predictability
Worth checking before you apply
- This is a hands-on security engineer role, not a fractional executive or interim C-suite placement; Fractional Quest focuses on fractional/interim senior leadership, so fit is limited
- No rate or salary disclosed—must negotiate separately
- Large-bank bureaucracy and ITSM processes may feel constraining for some; travel to office required (Edinburgh or London)
