Fractional Business Development Manager, Fleko
FRACTIONAL EXEC JOB · IT SERVICES AND IT CONSULTING SECTOR · DERBY, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM

Fleko, a small UK cybersecurity consultancy, seeks an experienced Business Development Manager to own the full sales cycle for professional services into mid-market/enterprise clients. Explicitly fractional, remote-first, with flexible engagement structure and performance incentives discussed. No rate stated; budget and commitment level to be negotiated.
Fractional Business Development Manager — the balanced verdict
Why this role stands out
- Genuinely fractional from the outset; employer signals openness to flexible arrangements and performance-linked pay
- High autonomy — full ownership of sales pipeline from prospecting through close; no hand-holding required
- Realistic brief — reject high-volume cold outreach in favour of relationship-building and consultative selling
- B2B professional services context (cybersecurity consultancy, not product SaaS) favours experienced operators over junior hunters
- Small, ambitious firm (2–10 staff) suggests founder-led culture and direct access to decision-makers
Worth checking before you apply
- No day rate, hours or monthly commitment quantum stated—negotiation essential to avoid scope creep or under-resourcing
- Early-stage business (small headcount, new service development) means marketing/lead generation support may be thin; candidate owns prospecting effort
- "Performance-related element" hint suggests commission or variable pay structure—clarify base vs. upside and clawback terms

Fleko is a growing UK cybersecurity consultancy, and we're looking for an experienced, hands-on Business Development Manager to help us win new business, with a particular focus on mid-market and enterprise organisations.
This is a fractional/part-time role initially, and we're looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of business development and the sales process.
We're not looking for someone to build a list, send hundreds of cold emails and hope something comes back. Outreach will form part of the role, but we're looking for someone who can identify the right organisations, find ways into them, build relationships and turn those conversations into real opportunities.
You'll own the sales process from initial engagement through to close. That includes prospecting, networking and relationship building, running initial discovery, developing opportunities, coordinating proposals, following up, negotiating and ultimately getting deals signed.
Fleko sells cybersecurity consultancy and professional services rather than an off-the-shelf product. There often isn't anything to demo. The job is to understand a client's challenges, recognise where we can help and work with our technical team to shape the right engagement.
Our technical specialists will join client conversations where their expertise or senior involvement adds value. We don't expect you to be a cybersecurity expert, but we do expect you to retain ownership of the opportunity and keep it moving.
We're particularly interested in someone who has:
A track record of personally winning B2B professional services or consultancy work
Experience selling into mid-market and enterprise organisations
- Experience managing complex sales from first conversation through to signature
- The confidence to engage senior decision-makers and develop relationships rather than relying solely on high-volume outbound
- A good commercial understanding of scope, value, margin and what makes a worthwhile engagement
- The ability to work independently and take ownership without needing an existing sales team around you
Cybersecurity or technology experience would be useful, but it's not essential. A strong track record of selling professional services is more important.
We're open to different ways of structuring the engagement, but expect this to start as a fractional role with a regular commitment each month. We're also open to discussing a performance-related element as part of the package.
UK-based. Primarily remote, with client meetings where appropriate.
