Full-time Head of People for Specialist Passenger Solutions (SPS), a 200–500-person transport division under First Bus serving nuclear construction projects (Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C). Heavy ER, compliance, and people-strategy ownership across a 24/7 operation. No fractional structure stated; role is embedded and full-time.

01

Full-time CHRO — the balanced verdict

Why this role stands out

  • Large-scale, safety-critical sector (nuclear-licensed sites) with genuine complexity and credibility-building opportunity
  • Clear team leadership remit (managing direct reports, developing People team)
  • Genuine ER and employment-law depth needed (Trade Union dealings, ACAS, GDPR, capability management)
  • Structured benefits and 5% matched pension show stable, established employer

Worth checking before you apply

  • 24/7 flexible working hours required — likely beyond a typical fractional pattern
  • Heavy compliance and absence-management load suggests embedded, reactive availability needed
  • No salary stated; benefits list does not imply premium compensation
  • BPSS and DBS checks required (baseline-to-enhanced vetting for nuclear sites), adding friction for portfolio candidates
